Today is Carers Rights Day 2019!

Today is Carers Rights Day! This is an annual event held by Carers UK raises awareness of the issues affecting the 6.5 million people in the UK who are carers.

Each year, Carers Rights Day helps us: –

  • Ensure carers are aware of their rights
  • Let carers know where to get help and support
  • Raise awareness of the needs of carers

This Carers Rights Day, Carers UK is joining with organisations from across the UK to help carers in their local communities find their way. Whether they are struggling with navigating a maze of health and social services, looking for places to access information, or finding they need extra support to cope with the pressures of caring, we’ll help empower them to find any assistance that will benefit them.

WeCare.Wales and Care to Co-operate

WeCare.Wales is a campaign that celebrates those who work in care, and showcases their positive stories. If you are considering a career in the care sector, then please look at their website for different carer options and how to go about things. Care to Co-operate helps people design and run care and support services in their community. The free service can help carers come together formally as a Personal Assistant co-operative – if you are a carer, or know someone who is, this way of support could be beneficial.

Wales needs around 20,000 more people to work in care by 2030. On this site you can find out more about the many opportunities to work with adults and children and hear what it’s really like to work in care from those already doing the job.

Personal Assistant Co-ops recognise the needs of lone workers and can also help with continuity of care. Our guide provides information for Personal Assistants wanting to work with other Personal Assistants.
