Can we Cwtch? Relationships, Risk and Personal Outcomes

November 23rd 2017 – Ty Menai, Bangor LL57 4FH

March 1st 2018 – South Wales, All Nations Centre, Cardiff CF14 3NY

Time: 9.00 to 16.00

The Welsh word ‘cwtch’ means more than just a hug, it’s also about creating a sense of safety and security, and yet sometimes it is discouraged in the name of safeguarding. Whilst care is also often seen as a one-way transaction, the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 places a strong emphasis on relationships, building on strengths and co-production. This requires a rethink about the way professionals and the people they support work together.

This event will explore the importance of relationships and reciprocity in social work, social care and community development, and how we might use them more effectively in promoting good personal outcomes for everyone involved. Places are limited.
